Box Beams (U-Channel)

Our most popular profile. Box beams feature a three-sided, hollow construction that mounts over a simple wood cleat attached to your ceiling. The hollow interior makes them extremely lightweight and provides a convenient channel for hiding electrical wiring, speaker cables, or low-voltage lighting.

Every beam project starts with a profile — the cross-sectional shape that determines how the beam looks, how it mounts, and what functional features it can accommodate. At Elite Ceiling Designs, we offer a wider range of beam profiles than most suppliers, giving you the flexibility to match your architectural vision precisely.

All of our beams are crafted from high-density polyurethane and hand-finished to replicate the look and feel of real wood. They mount with a simple cleat system — no structural reinforcement required — and weigh a fraction of what real timber does.

  • Available sizes: 4×4 to 12×12 inches (custom sizes available)
  • Best for: Great rooms, kitchens, dining rooms, hallways, covered patios
  • Material cost: $15–$45 per linear foot
  • All standard and custom textures available

I-Beams

I-beams feature a distinctive profile with a flat top plate, vertical web, and bottom flange — replicating the look of structural steel or iron beams while maintaining the warmth and character of a wood finish. We offer three I-beam variations:

Standard I-Beam

The Standard I-Beam features clean, straight edges and a smooth transition between the top plate, web, and bottom flange. The woodgrain texture runs continuously across the profile, creating a refined look that works in both contemporary and traditional spaces. This is our most versatile I-beam option and pairs well with virtually any interior style.

Faux wood I-beam with decorative bolts — industrial character with wood grain finish by Elite Ceiling Designs

I-Beam with Decorative Bolts

Adding decorative bolts to the I-beam profile introduces an industrial, structural quality that evokes the look of heavy timber construction. The bolts are cast into the beam during manufacturing — they're not applied after the fact — creating a more authentic, integrated appearance. Especially popular in restaurant design, brewery taprooms, and residential loft conversions.

Faux wood I-beam with lattice web design — decorative open pattern by Elite Ceiling Designs

Lattice I-Beam

The Lattice I-Beam replaces the solid center web with an open, crosshatch lattice pattern — adding visual interest and a lighter, more decorative quality. The lattice allows light to pass through the beam, making it an excellent choice for spaces where you want architectural character without visual heaviness. Beautiful in dining rooms, sunrooms, and covered outdoor living areas.

I-Beam Specifications:

  • Available sizes: 4" to 10" depth (custom available)
  • Material cost: $12–$35 per linear foot
  • Built-in channel ideal for hiding wiring and mounting recessed lighting
  • All three styles available in every standard and custom texture/finish

Cellular I-Beams

Cellular beams — sometimes called castellated beams — feature a series of circular or hexagonal openings cut into the web of the I-beam profile. Originally an engineering innovation for steel construction, the cellular pattern has become a sought-after design element in modern commercial and residential interiors.
