The presence of heavy timber, without the weight

A truss reads as the structure of a room even when it is not carrying anything. Ours are cast in high-density polyurethane from moulds of real wood, so the grain and the tool marks are the timber's, and the assembly is light enough to fit without reinforcing the frame behind it.

Because they are decorative rather than structural, they fix with construction adhesive and mechanical fasteners rather than being framed in. That is what makes spans practical here that would be impractical in solid wood, which is why they turn up most often over great rooms, hotel lobbies and restaurant ceilings.

Truss styles we build

Six from recent projects. Trusses are made to the room rather than picked from a catalog, so treat these as starting points.

Dark stained rustic faux trusses over a vaulted ceiling

Rustic timber

Heavy sections and hand-hewn texture, the closest to reclaimed barn timber.

Simple king-post faux truss in a modern room

Modern

Clean rectangular sections and a simple king post, for contemporary rooms.

Arched faux truss under a boarded barrel-vaulted ceiling

Arched

A curved bottom chord that follows a barrel or vaulted ceiling.

Faux trusses in a mountain modern great room with stone and a dark ceiling

Mountain modern

Scissor and king-post shapes for the high vaulted ceilings in mountain homes.

Dark stained faux trusses over an arched opening with chandeliers

Dark stained

Deeper stains and heavier sections, for Mediterranean and Mission interiors.

Light rustic faux trusses in a bright vaulted room

Light rustic

Lighter stains and slimmer sections, for bright rooms with high ceilings.

Textures, colors and finish

Trusses take the same finish library as the beam line: 20+ textures, split into standard and custom, and 20+ colors. Where a truss has to agree with flooring, cabinetry or existing beams, we color match to a sample rather than to a chart.
