Faux Wood Log Textures & Finishes
Choosing the right texture is one of the most important decisions in any faux wood log project. The texture determines how light catches the surface, how the material feels to the touch, and how convincingly it replicates the look of real timber — all of which shape the final character of your space.
At Elite Ceiling Designs, our faux wood logs are hand-finished by skilled craftsmen using proprietary techniques that create depth, grain variation, and natural imperfections you'd expect from genuine logs. Every texture is available in full-round and half-round profiles, and each can be paired with any of our standard or custom color finishes.
Below, explore our signature log texture collections. We recommend ordering samples before committing to a finish — color and texture can look quite different depending on your lighting, ceiling height, and surrounding materials.
Adobe Texture
Inspired by the sun-baked clay and weathered timber of traditional adobe architecture, the Adobe texture captures a warm, earth-toned grain with softened edges and subtle surface variation. It's one of our most requested textures for desert and Southwest-style homes.
The Adobe texture works especially well in:
- Homes with stucco, plaster, or warm-toned walls
- Vaulted great rooms and outdoor covered patios
- Desert contemporary and Southwestern architectural styles
- Projects in Arizona, New Mexico, and Southern California
The grain pattern is created through a multi-stephand-finishing process that introduces natural color depth — no two logs lookidentical, which is exactly the point. Adobe pairs beautifully with ourwarm-toned stain options, including Desert Sand, Aged Cedar, and NaturalWalnut.
Santa Fe Texture
The Santa Fe texture draws from the rugged timber framing found in historic New Mexican architecture — think rough-hewn vigas spanning a kiva fireplace room. This texture has pronounced grain lines, visible knots, and a hand-hewn quality that reads as authentic even up close.
The Santa Fe texture is ideal for:
- Lodge-style homes and rustic retreats
- Great rooms with stone fireplaces and natural materials
- Spanish Colonial and Territorial Revival interiors
- Commercial spaces seeking an upscale Southwest aesthetic (restaurants, resorts, and boutique hotels)
Note: We also offer a Santa Fe texture in our faux beam line. The log version features a rounder, more organic grain pattern suited to the curved profile of full-round and half-round logs.
Pueblo Texture
Named for the ancient building traditions of the Pueblo peoples, this texture balances smoothness with subtle grain — a refined look that works in both traditional and modern spaces. The surface has less pronounced knots than Santa Fe and a softer visual rhythm that lends itself to contemporary interiors where wood warmth is desired without heavy rustic character.
The Pueblo texture is a great fit for:
- Modern farmhouse and transitional design styles
- Minimalist spaces that want natural warmth without visual clutter
- Bedroom ceilings, hallways, and dining rooms
- Commercial lobbies and waiting areas seeking a calm, natural look
Pueblo logs pair particularly well with lighter stain options and whitewash finishes, making them a popular choice for coastal and Scandinavian-influenced interiors as well.
Additional Log Textures
In addition to Adobe, Santa Fe, and Pueblo, our craftsmen can create custom log textures to match your design vision. Whether you're looking to replicate a specific species of timber, match an existing log element in your home, or create something entirely unique, our team can work with you to develop a custom texture.
We also offer all of our standard beam textures — Traditional, Rough Sawn, Sedona, Axed, Rift Sawn, Mojave, and Distressed — adapted for log profiles. Visit our Faux Beam Textures page for the full texture library.
