Real timber on the wall

This is our natural wood line: real timber wall treatments, as distinct from the polyurethane components used elsewhere on the site. Where you want actual grain, actual variation between boards and a surface that ages, this is the route.

We design, finish and install planked walls, slat and batten walls, and timber panelling for residential and commercial interiors.

Wood plank color options: Cody, Laramie, Sundance White, Saratoga, Cheyenne, Wheatland, Casper

Natural wood or faux wood?

The honest answer is that both are right in different rooms.

  • Natural wood — real grain and board-to-board variation, and a surface that develops. It is a natural material, so it responds to the conditions of the room it is in.
  • Faux wood — high-density polyurethane moulded from real timber, where a consistent repeat across a long wall, a tall elevation, or an awkward substrate matters more than natural variation. See faux wood wall panelling.

We will say which we would specify for your wall and the reasoning, rather than steering you to one line.

Treatments

  • Planked walls — horizontal or vertical boards, tight-jointed or with a reveal.
  • Slat and batten — spaced members over a backing, for shadow and rhythm.
  • Panelling — framed timber panels, full height or to a rail.

Species, staining and color coordination

Species and stain decide how the wall reads far more than the layout does. Because timber varies board to board, matching to existing joinery, flooring or beams is done from a physical sample and approved before the run is finished. See natural wood staining and color coordination and how we match wood species.

How a project runs

  1. Consultation — wall, substrate, room conditions and the look you are after.
  2. Species and finish — selected and approved from a sample.
  3. Fabrication and finishing — prepared to the approved sample.
  4. Installation — installed by our team, or supplied for your contractor.

We work from Sacramento across Northern California, the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, Reno, Southern California and Phoenix, and are licensed in California, Nevada and Arizona.

Frequently asked questions

Is this real wood or faux wood?
Real timber. This is our natural wood line, distinct from the high-density polyurethane components used for faux beams and faux panelling.
Should I choose natural wood or faux wood for a wall?
Natural timber for real grain and variation; polyurethane where a consistent repeat across a long or tall wall, or an awkward substrate, matters more. We advise per wall rather than per product line.
Can you match the wall to flooring or cabinetry we already have?
Yes, matched from a physical sample and approved before the run is finished. Timber varies board to board, which is exactly why it is matched to a sample rather than a swatch name.
Does a wood wall work in a bathroom or a kitchen?
It depends on the room conditions and ventilation. Timber is a natural material and responds to its environment, so this is a question for the consultation rather than a blanket yes or no.
Do you install, or supply only?
Both. We install across the regions we serve, and supply prepared material for your own installer.
How much does a natural wood wall cost?
It depends on species, wall area, treatment and finish, so we quote per project. Send dimensions and a photo of the wall and we will scope it.
